We contacted the insurance company at 6:30am. We had a surveyor on scene within 45 minutes to assist our client. He was paid $4.5 million in less than three weeks.”

“We recently had a Viking 55’ incur electrical damage in Costa Rica. The insurance company approved repairs that included wiring into junction boxes, which the adjuster and surveyor indicated was according to “generally accepted marine practices” and ABYC compliant. The boat was repaired to these specifications in Costa Rica.
When the boat arrived at the Viking Service Center, I flew to Florida to personally inspect the repairs and meet with Viking’s electrical engineer, service manager, and owner’s captain. Based upon this personal inspection and expertise of Viking’s personnel, we were able to convince the insurance company that the initial repairs did not comply with the policy requirement of returning the boat to its original condition and design, of which involved complete re-wiring with no splices. Insurance companies rarely agree to pay for work they’ve already deemed acceptable. In this case, after providing specific details and photos and hours of negotiation, I convinced the adjuster that the initial repairs were temporary and the secondary repairs were required to wire the boat per Viking’s original design specifications. The insurer ultimately approved the full scope of secondary repairs, issuing a payment in excess of $80,000 to bring the yacht back to its pre-loss condition.”
